Sandi Levy is a mixed-media artist residing in Aventura, Florida.
She uses watercolor, acrylics, oils, enamels, inks, mediums, and
“ found treasures” to create her palette.
She sometimes uses them all in one painting!
She has developed her style after taking workshops with several abstract
artists throughout the US. She uses the colors and subjects of nature:
flowers, landscapes, animals, seascapes, and just about everything
to fill her canvasses.
Sandi retired from the New York City School system in 1993, after having taught for 32 years
as a Reading Specialist. Her favorite activity was creating and illustrating original books with her students, based on their journal entries. She returned to Miami;her home town, in 1999 and has been painting ever since. She hopes to write and illustrate children’s books one day!
Sandi was President of the Hollywood Art Guild from 2006-2009. She is a signature member and Vice President of the Miami Watercolor Society, and an exhibiting member of the Gold Coast Watercolor Society. She has won numerous awards in juried art shows throughout Florida:
Glass Gallery of Pembroke Pines, the Deering Estate in South Miami, Anne Kolb Nature Center, Aventura Rotating Art Exhibit, Broward Center for the Arts Citibank openings, University of Miami, are among a few.
She has sold over 20 paintings on Cruise ships, and is constantly asked to do mixed-media demos and workshops for local art groups.
She has taught watercolor workshops on the Royal Caribbean Cruise line, the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, and in several art guilds in Miami & Fort Lauderdale.
She currently teaches painting classes at the Sr. Memorial Resource Center in Hallandale, The Regency Health Spa and has also taught at The Hyatt Classic Residence in Aventura.
Her work is described as “Eye Candy for the artistic Soul!
When she is not painting, Sandi spends time with her beloved pet Gigi a picture-perfect Maltese.
Sandi also teaches and performs Belly Dancing in between her brush strokes!
She paints to the background sounds of Middle-eastern percussion, and ends up shimmying and dancing while holding a paintbrush in her mouth!
